PERMIT REQUIREMENTS TO VISIT NAGALAND AND SIKKIM

Important: Please note that in order to visit Nagaland and Sikkim, foreigners need to apply for ‘Restricted Area Permits’ in advance. For this, requisite forms are available with the Indian missions abroad. They need to be filled-in by the visitors, with photographs, names, passport details, visa details etcetera, and duly signed. All forms have to be collected together and sent to us – at least 06-weeks in advance. Once we receive them, we submit the same to the Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi along with a covering letter, which we prepare. After the ministry processes the documents, they issue us a ‘No Objection’ certificate, the original copy of which is handed over to the Tour Leader of the group upon arrival, or whosoever accompanies them. When the group reaches Kohima and Darjeeling (for Sikkim), our local correspondents collect all the passports from the group members, and along with the ‘no objection’ certificate they approach the Deputy Commissioner’s office to obtain the necessary endorsements on each passport. This is done without any problems whatsoever. The clients are not inconvenienced in any way either.
